This Saturday, 18th October, will see the 15th edition of the Hamrun Chocolate Festival take place. The theme for this year’s event will be Jurassic World Rebirth and Assassin’s Creed. The festival has become a highly popular annual event, bringing together some of the leading chocolate producers in Malta.

This year’s edition will feature new attractions designed for both children and adults. Details about the festival were announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Hamrun, Christian Sammut.

It was explained that this year 78 private and non-governmental entities will be taking part, with 45 exhibitors showcasing chocolate-related products. Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli expressed her satisfaction with the local council’s efforts in creating and continuing to organise this successful event over the years. She noted that every year, thousands of visitors fill Hamrun’s main street, Strada Rjali, to enjoy the festivities.

“The Hamrun Chocolate Festival is a testament to how local councils are delivering quality events that not only celebrate their communities but also honour our country. In recent years we have seen international partners participate, and this will be the case again this year. The Government continues to give its full support to local councils, including Hamrun, so they can keep promoting such events that offer quality time for Maltese and Gozitan families,” said the Parliamentary Secretary.

Mayor Christian Sammut explained that among this year’s attractions will be chocolate-flavoured beer and coffee, as well as two large chocolate sculptures inspired by the films Jurassic World Rebirth and Assassin’s Creed. These creations were prepared by chocolatiers Tiziano Cassar and Chris Zammit specifically for this event.

“In this edition, we wanted visitors to enjoy an unforgettable chocolate-themed experience. We therefore created food and drinks that are not usually associated with chocolate. Visitors will be able to taste traditional chocolate as well as innovative creations inspired by this much-loved treat,” Sammut said.

He concluded by noting that the festival will start at 6:00 p.m. and continue until midnight on Saturday.
