14 Projects To Benefit From Funding Through Restoration Funding Scheme

The Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, together with the Malta Arts Council and the Restoration and Preservation Department, has announced the projects selected for funding under the Restoration Funding Scheme.
In total, 14 projects will share an investment of €190,000 aimed at supporting the restoration and conservation of immovable cultural heritage.

The scheme was open to cultural and voluntary organisations seeking assistance to conserve internal and external features within parish churches.
Eligible works included altars, apertures, architectural decoration, gilding, as well as paintings and other decorative surfaces.
Minister Bonnici said the scheme reflects the value placed on Malta’s cultural and artistic heritage. He noted that supporting traditional activities and creative practices remains a key commitment, now being delivered through targeted investment.
He added that such initiatives help strengthen the country’s cultural infrastructure while encouraging the continued development of traditional and cultural elements that define Maltese identity.
Malta Arts Council Executive Chair Luke Dalli said the selected projects highlight the richness and diversity of the country’s artistic heritage, while underlining the role of communities and voluntary organisations in safeguarding it.
