14.5% Of Malta’s Population In 2024 Were Children

According to new data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) Malta, in honour of Children’s Day, 14.5% of Malta’s population in 2024 were children.
This is out of a population of 574,250, with 51.7% of children (43,121) being boys and 48.3% (40,292) being girls.

In 2014, for comparison, Malta’s total population registered at around 438,805, with 17.6% of these being children.
52.0% were boys and 48.0% were girls.
In 2024, 10.8% of boys under the age of five were moderately or severely overweight, followed by 9.5% of girls. Compared to 2014, 9.3% of boys and 8.1% of girls were overweight.
