1,334 Persons Admitted To Mount Carmel In 2025 For Support

According to information tabled in parliament by Minister for Health Jo Etienne Abela, up until August 2025, a total of 1,334 persons were admitted to Mount Carmel for mental health related assistance.

In August 2025, a total of 183 persons were admitted, with this month and August seeing the highest amount this year, followed by march at 180 persons.

The Minister was also inquired about persons who visited Mater Dei’s Emergency Department for mental health support in the same period, with the total being revealed to be 3,112.

The highest was registered in July at 488, with August registering 452 visits.

Meanwhile, in August, 2,748 persons made use of the 1400 Helpline, a national service set up for non-emergency medical assistance.

This helpline was set up this year, and September saw 1,750 people making use of it up until the 22nd of the month.
