Throughout yesterday, police conducted a successfully operation aimed at foreign criminal networks working in Malta, resulting in the arrest of four men and a woman.

The suspects were arrested with ties to drug trafficking, money laundering and participation in criminal organisations.

All persons were of Italian nationality, and were aged between 27 and 35 years old.

The operation started with searches at the same time in various residences in Imsida, Tas-Sliema and Swieqi.

During the investigations, around 13 kilos of alleged cocaine, an amount of cannabis resin and cannabis plants, with a value of around €250,000.

Clothes and jewellery with an estimated value of €150,000, as well as €386,715 in cash. Two vehicles and a stolen firearm were also found.

A magisterial inquiry has been opened as investigations continue.
