Works on il-Madonna tal-Vitorja Garden in Pembroke are around 75% complete, with a previously underused area being transformed into a new open space for residents.

The project, covering about 2,250 square metres, is converting land that was partly covered in tarmac into a green recreational area.

With an investment of around €425,000, the project will include over 100 new trees, among them a mature carob tree standing around six metres tall and weighing roughly 4,000 kilograms.

During a site visit with the Project Green team and members of the Pembroke Local Council, including Mayor Kaylon Zammit, Environment Minister Miriam Dalli highlighted the progress achieved so far.

“From a place that had unfortunately ended up collecting construction waste, so much so that we collected more than 2.5 tonnes of this type of waste from here, we will now have this garden for residents of the locality and for everyone who visits this area,” said Minister Miriam Dalli.

Historical features are also being preserved, while sustainable measures such as removing invasive plants and reusing excavated native soil are being implemented.
