Maltese singer and actor Beppe Caruana is set to make history as a finalist in this year’s prestigious Italian competition, Zecchino D’Oro. Beppe will perform the original Italian song, ‘Toc Toc’, at the festival’s grand final on November 30th.

The journey began when the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS), in collaboration with the Arts Council Malta, issued a call for interest last April. From numerous talented Maltese applicants, ten children were selected to audition in Scicli, Sicily. Following this, three singers advanced to Bologna, where Beppe ultimately earned his place as a finalist, chosen from thousands of participants worldwide.

Beppe joins a long line of Maltese talent in Zecchino D’Oro, which dates back to 1962 with Raymond Debono’s winning performance of ‘La Giacca Rotta’. Over the years, several Maltese singers, including John Sultana, Vincent Vella Jr., and Nicole Azzopardi, have represented the island with notable successes.

Beppe, a former member of La Voix Choir, which received the Golden Buzzer on Malta’s Got Talent in 2022, has also starred in productions with the Masquerade theatre company. Passionate about singing, acting, and reading, he described the experience as “truly beautiful” and looks forward to performing alongside Italian singer Sophia.

Malta now proudly awaits Beppe’s performance in the 68th edition of this iconic festival.

Good luck, Beppe!
