10 British Veterans Help Restore Fort Delimara In Joint Malta Initiative

Between 3rd and 15th May, 10 British veterans supported by the UK charity Alabaré, along with four staff and volunteers, travelled to Malta as part of a joint initiative between the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) and Heritage Malta.

This effort formed part of Alabaré’s Boots on the Ground project, an innovative programme that helps former service personnel through structured, purpose-driven volunteering experiences.

During their time on the island, the veterans carried out important preservation works at Fort Delimara, including rust removal, cleaning, and painting, to help protect the historic structure’s integrity.

The group also completed internal and external restoration works at the AFM Delimara Outpost, working under the supervision of the AFM Property Management and Development Branch.
