Minister for Social and Affordable Housing, Roderick Galdes, inaugurated a regeneration project involving 23 blocks of social housing in Ħamrun. The project, with an investment exceeding one million euros, focused on enhancing the façades of the social housing blocks, improving common areas, and renovating the roofs.
Minister Galdes stated that approximately 150 families have benefited from the work carried out on these 23 blocks. He emphasized that this initiative not only transformed the appearance of the area but also significantly improved the quality of life for the residents.
He further explained the importance of continuing to invest not just in new social and affordable housing units, but also in preserving existing ones, ensuring they remain safe and dignified for the beneficiaries. “This regeneration effort addresses both current and future needs, benefiting both the residents and the social housing sector,” the Minister added.
During his visit, Minister Galdes observed the extensive work completed on these blocks, noting that the project not only refreshed the social housing area in Ħamrun but also positively impacted the daily lives of over 150 families who are directly benefiting from this regeneration initiative.
