Non-profit organisation Doctors for Road Safety has stated that the amount of traffic incidents happening in the country’s roads is totally unacceptable in civilised society.
The NGO is a voluntary organisation set up by doctors and medical students who see the repercussions of the lack of road safety whilst on the job and advocates for better awareness and education.
It stated that the elderly are most at risk of being victims in such incidents and appealed to the authorities for immediate action on addressing the ‘intolerable situation which is destroying families and communities’.
On Friday, a 64-year-old man from Gozo sustained serious injuries after being involved in a traffic incident in Triq Għajn Qatet in Rabat, Gozo. His motorcycle collided with a Toyota Starlet driven by a 46-year-old man from Fontana.
