On Wednesday, Mexican lawmakers were approached with the testimony that “we are not alone” in the universe as congress was presented with what journalist and UFO-aficionado Jaime Maussan claimed to be alien corpses.

The alleged remnants of non-human bodies signified Mexico’s first-ever congressional hearing on UFOs. While some entertained the idea that the corpses actually belonged to extraterrestrial life, others shot it down with multiple social media posts ridiculing the concept, comparing the situation to something from E.T. or other alien-related media.
The two “bodies” were put on display in cases, with a carbon dating process held by Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM) determining that they were around 1,000 years old.

According to Massau, the samples were retrieved near the ancient Nazca Lines of Peru in 2017 – past discoveries similar to the one in question were discovered to be mummified remains of children.
While Massau held that such an exhibition is a clear demonstration “that we are dealing with non-human specimens that are not related to any other species in our world and that all possibilities are open for any scientific institution to investigate it”, UNAM followed up on a 2017 statement saying that no conclusions can be made about the origins of the samples.
