Alex Borg Delivers First Official Address as PN Leader, Calls for Unity and Renewal

Alex Borg delivered his first official address as leader of the Nationalist Party at Dar Ċentrali, just one day after his razor-thin victory over Adrian Delia was confirmed. Borg, 30, secured 8,905 votes against Delia’s 8,861, a difference of only 44 votes, making him the youngest-ever leader of a major political party in Malta.
“The PN can unite and can win,” Borg declared, reflecting on his decision to contest the leadership. He admitted it had not been an easy choice, but he believed this was the moment to make an impact. This belief inspired his campaign slogan, “Dan hu l-Mument,” which he said represents both the moment for the PN to rise to glory once again and the moment for all people of goodwill to rally behind a movement for change.
Borg pledged to offer the country a strong alternative government, stressing that Malta needs a renewed and resilient PN. He promised to build an inclusive party, one that opens its doors to everyone: loyal Nationalists, disillusioned Labourites, and all those who feel let down by politics. He spoke of forging an alliance for Malta and Gozo, saying the era of division, red versus blue, us versus them, must come to an end. “Now is the moment for all Maltese and Gozitans to unite and write the future of our country together,” he said.
Borg also committed to working closely with Adrian Delia and the entire PN parliamentary group, stressing that party unity is crucial for success.
He further claimed that the Prime Minister fears the renewed strength of the PN, and suggested that an early election could be on the horizon.
