ADPD Unveils Green Vision 2050: A Wellbeing Economy For People and Planet

The ADPD, The Green Party has proposed an alternative Green Vision 2050, challenging the government’s Vision 2050 plan. The party argues that Malta can only achieve environmental and social goals through a green economy that balances power between civil society and big business, shrinks the financial sector, and moves beyond the growth-at-all-costs model.
ADPD Secretary General Dr Ralph Cassar criticised saying, “Green Vision 2050 integrates social, ecological, and economic priorities, focusing on wellbeing for all rather than limitless growth for a few.”
The Green Vision 2050 rests on five principles: Wellbeing, Justice, Limits and Planetary Boundaries, Efficiency and Sufficiency, and Good Governance. It proposes four pillars: Beyond Growth – a Wellbeing Economy; Beyond the Market – Public Services to Enhance Wellbeing; Beyond Individualism – Strengthening Community and Education; and Beyond Greed – Stewardship of our Environment.
ADPD Chairperson Sandra Gauci called for a fundamental paradigm shift across Malta and Europe, saying, “We need an economy that is socially just, ecologically sound, and sustainable, rather than one built on exploitation and greed.”
