Jake Gyllenhaal is currently in Malta filming Road House 2 which is being filmed on our islands.

Owen Bonnici, the Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, together with Johann Grech, Film Commissioner, visited the set of Road House 2.

Directed by Ilya Naishuller, this is the second film in the franchise but the first to be shot in Malta through the Cash Rebate programme.

Filming will take place in various locations across the islands, including the iconic streets of Valletta, the Maritime Museum, and Fort Ricasoli.

The story once again follows the character Elwood Dalton (Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter who finds himself on a journey to Malta in search of a particular person.

Minister Bonnici stated that “this production is clear proof of the Film Commission’s continued commitment to attracting more international-level productions to our country.”

“This commitment is not only creating more jobs for Maltese workers but is also providing training and specialisation opportunities for local crews, while strengthening the economy and leaving direct benefits for our businesses,” he continued.

Johann Grech added, Film Commissioner, added “Today, our country has a film industry that operates all year round, with more Maltese working in film than ever before. Our plan is delivering great results.”
