In Ħal Kirkop, a new promise to residents is set to be fulfilled with the extension and renovation of Ġnien Rousset. This announcement was made by Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, during the signing of an agreement between the Department of Public Works and the Ħal Kirkop Local Council. The project will see an investment of €400,000.
The garden’s upgrades will include new paving and curbs, specially designed wooden benches, and a new lighting system featuring modern lamps and additional low-level lights to enhance the area’s beauty. A new, modern-designed fountain will be added, along with free public Wi-Fi. Furthermore, the garden will have a new children’s play area and more parking spaces. Existing trees, which provide ample shade, will be preserved, and the green footprint will be expanded with colorful flower beds.
All access points to the garden from surrounding sidewalks will be accessible to persons with disabilities. Omar Farrugia remarked, “This beautiful area of the country has unique characteristics, and while we will preserve those, we will continue to add value to these surroundings with green and open spaces for families. This government is committed to continuing to invest in these communities, and in Ħal Kirkop, we will provide families with another beautiful garden, part of a series of projects that will benefit the residents of Kirkop and the surrounding area.”
Mayor Terence Agius of Ħal Kirkop expressed his gratitude to the Department of Public Works for this much-needed project, stating that he looks forward to its completion.
