Well, you might have to rethink your plans as rain showers accompanied by strong winds are set to hit Malta this long weekend.

With Freedom Day being celebrated next Monday, the 31st of March, many around the island will be getting an extra day off. However, it seems as though the weather might spoil the fun for those planning for an outside activity.

A strong wind warning has also been issued for today, Friday 28th March, and is set to be renewed depending on the situation.

Temperatures are set to feel around 17 and 18 degrees Celsius all throughout the weekend and into next week.

Prime Minister Visits People Undergoing Drug Rehabilitation

Prime Minister Robert Abela recently visited the Santa Marija Community, a rehabilitation centre dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with substance dependency, including drug and alcohol addiction.

Accompanied by Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, and the CEO of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS), Alfred Grixti, the Prime Minister praised the unwavering dedication of the Sedqa Agency within the FSWS in assisting individuals on their journey to recovery.

The Santa Marija Community plays a vital role in helping individuals not only overcome addiction but also reintegrate into society. Through structured programmes and continuous support, residents are equipped with essential skills and resources to build a new life.

During his visit, the Prime Minister met with residents and observed the therapeutic community approach in practice. He toured the residential facilities, witnessing how each resident contributes to the daily operations of the centre. The visit concluded with a discussion where residents shared their personal rehabilitation experiences.

Additionally, Prime Minister Abela visited the Substance Misuse Inpatient Unit (SMIPU), Malta’s sole facility offering intensive medical care for addiction recovery. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in long-term rehabilitation services, ensuring accessible and effective support for those facing substance abuse challenges.

Race Track Project Progressing, Prime Minister Says

Speaking on an episode of Popolin, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the race track project is progressing greatly.

Responding to a question about its status, Abela said that the funds have been allocated completely and development applications covered.

‘If we leave now and go to Ħal Far, we will see the work being done’, Abela said.

Responding to complaints that the project is not happening or is taking too long, the Prime Minister said that this project was promised and will be completed in a short time.

He went on to highlight all the work it required, such as the relocation of a number of funds – such as factories on the site of the future track.

He said that the project, which costs millions, will be one of the best in Europe.
