8-year-old boy to run 5K to raise funds for DAR Bjorn Respite

An 8-year-old boy named Kruiven will be running five kilometres, from Imdina to San Anton, with hopes to raise funds for Dar Bjorn Respite.

“Bjorn can’t move a single muscle yet he is determined to finish his life race by helping others. I want to help Bjorn by running a 5K race”, the boy said. On June 4th, Kruiven will be running to gather funds at a target of €1 per 1m with hopes to collect €5,000 by the end of the race.

So far, they have collected over €530 from 40 contributors and anyone who wished to donate may do so from ALS Malta’s website. A Facebook post from Bjorn himself has since garnered over 2,000 likes and hundreds of comments praising the young boy for his altruistic efforts.

Qormi murder victim with 45 stab wounds in upper chest; blood found in bedroom of accused

Traces of murder victim Mario Farrugia’s blood have been found smeared on the wall of accused Elliot Paul Busuttil’s bedroom.

The court was notified of this discovery as the compilation of evidence against the accused is currently under way. The 38-year-old Busuttil is currently being accused of the murder of 62-year-old Mario Farrugia, whose body was discovered in the trunk of a car in Qormi on April 5th. The decomposed body was identified as Farrugia’s after various DNA tests.

The autopsy on Farrugia’s body found that the victim suffered around 45 stab wounds from a single-bladed knife in his upper right chest. Homicide squad police inspector Wayne Camilleri specified that this could suggest that “the victim was already in the luggage boot when he was stabbed.”

CCTV footage had also found that the car in which the victim was found was parked in the valley on March 6th at around 6am, with a male person wearing a face mask and black clothing emerging from the vehicle and wiping his hands on a towel.

Police officer awarded for her heroic act of saving 4-year-old from being run over by car

The Malta Police Force has awarded Constable Charlene Delia for her heroic act in saving a 4-year-old from being run over by a car.

Constable Delia jumped in front of the moving car which was about to hit the girl and, during an event celebrating excellence in customer care service, was celebrated by her fellow police officers. The event, organised by the government’s public services branch, is part of Public Service Week.

A comment from one of the parents said that they “would like to commend and thank the policewoman in Rabat tonight (outside St Paul’s Church), who jumped out in front of a car to save [her 4-year-old] daughter from being run over as she was scooting to catch up”, going on to say that “she is a real hero.”

The parent went on to state that at the time, they were so stress “and embarrassed at [their] poor judgement], they didn’t even stop to thank her”, also apologising for it.

Formula 1 and Netflix have finally confirmed that phenomenon series Formula 1: Drive to Survive will be renewed for its fifth and sixth seasons on the popular streaming platform.
