Malta’s Civil Protection Department recently celebrated the addition of 64 new members to its ranks, bringing the total force to nearly 300 officials.
These recruits completed an intensive 20-week training course and were officially sworn in at a ceremony at the Civil Protection station in Ħal Far. The event featured a passing out parade, marking the culmination of their rigorous preparation.
Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri, highlighted the importance of the new recruits in a department that has seen significant government investment in resources for rescue and civil protection operations. He commended the recruits on their exceptional performance during their training, noting their achievements not only locally but also in international missions.
Minister Camilleri emphasised the global recognition and appreciation the recruits received during operations abroad, including in countries like Turkey, Greece, and Libya.
He stated, “We have invested in your training as well, so much so that every single opportunity you had to prove yourselves, you passed with flying colours, in Malta and even in operations overseas when you went to help those in need in Turkey, Greece, Libya – you were complemented and appreciated by everyone.”
