553 Babies Born To Mothers Under Twenty In Malta Over The Past 5 Years

In a parliamentary question, Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela provided information regarding the number of births to mothers under the age of twenty over the past five years.

He stated that between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2024, a total of 553 babies were born to mothers under twenty across Malta and Gozo.

A detailed table, breaking down the number of births by year and by the mother’s age group, has been placed on the Table of the House.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela provided a table in Parliament showing that 67 births were to mothers under the age of 17 over the past five years. In 2020, there were 58 recorded births to mothers aged 19.
