The strong relations developed in recent months between Malta and Libya has prevented 5,000 migrants from departing from Libya with the chance of ending up in Malta, Minister Evarist Bartolo announced.
Minister for Foreign Affairs also stressed the importance for these migrants to be kept in decent conditions in Libya, and that repatriation should be ensued for those that are not entitled for political asylum.

The past week has been the deadliest week of the coronavirus pandemic in Malta so far, after a total of 13 people passed away while testing positive for covid-19.
Last Sunday 25th October, Malta had recorded a total of 51 deaths due to COVID-19, and that number has since gone up to 64.
On a brighter note, the r-factor has decreased to 1.41.

On Sunday morning the Health ministry announced the 63rd and 64th deaths due to COVID-19 in Malta.
In a statement the health ministry announced that a 91-year-old woman who had tested positive for COVID on October 21, and an 80-year-old man who had tested positive for COVID on October 15, passed away overnight at Mater Dei Hospital.
While offering condolences the Health Ministry urged the public to follow the public health guidelines.

As the UK passed one million Covid-19 cases, rumours had emerged yesterday morning that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was set to announce a second national lockdown for England.
This was then confirmed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson himself after he held an important press conference, where he announced that a nationwide lockdown will kickstart from next Thursday, lasting until 2nd December.
This is the second national lockdown for England, but unlike the restriction during the first lockdown, schools are to be allowed to stay open – while non-essential shops and hospitality will be force to close for a whole month.
