5 essential products you break out when you know summer is coming
Jun 13 2022 Share

The typically-Maltese shift in weather from gloomy grays to scorching sun is a surefire sign that summer is finally around the corner and as our wardrobe begins to change, so do our tools & appliances.

The advent of the summer season brings with it an arsenal of essentials we unknowingly incorporate into daily routines and without even acknowledging it, our mind has already accepted that our favourite season is finally with us. That said, here are 5 essential tools you break out when you know summer is coming:

Fans, fans, fans!

When its a bit too hot for cracking the window open but not hot enough to turn on the air conditioning, these trusty tools have stood the test of time. The mere sight of a fan is truly a sign that summer is coming and when you’re hit by that refreshing breeze for the first time, you are finally ready.

FBP offer a fine range of domestic and industrial air cooling units with brands like Venti, Evernal and Soffnet, with some of the best prices in the market.

Gas barbecues

Everyone’s favourite summer event. Few summer scents compare to the enchanting aroma of grilled Maltese sausages and vegetables on a scorching barbecue grill and if you’re looking for a quality barbecue unit which will serve you well for one season after the other, FBP is the place to go.

The trusty local supply brand offers a variety of Gusto Griglia gas barbecues which vary in price to accommodate any budget so rest assured that this summer, it’s BBQ season.

Portable Air Conditioner

The absolutely undeniable summer essential, in portable form. When you finally give in to the hat and one fan just isn’t enough to accommodate the entire squad, these small and compact portable air conditioners come in clutch. Their new generation self-evaporative technology and L-shaped evaporator make them the ultimate summer tool.

With units ranging in price and strength, if you’ve never tried the power and comfort of a portable air conditioning unit, now is probably the time.

Pressure washers

Whether it’s a car or a boat you own, cleanliness is key during the summer months. There’s nothing quite like the glossy shine of a clean vehicle under the Maltese summer sun and unfortunately, it’s rather difficult to maintain due to the constant wave of dust and air particles a result of Malta’s busy landscape.

Thankfully, FBP offer a range of Total Pressure Washers which are perfect for boat cleaning, car detailing and household service so whether you’re after a domestic or industrial washer, you should check out their range ASAP.

Hand dryers

Cleanliness should always be a priority, regardless of the season, but Malta’s summer weather means that you’ll be going out and socialising more often. With the increase in temperatures and higher-than-ever need to wash our hands, hand dryers are as important as ever.

You’ll find a hand dryer in almost every restaurant, cafeteria, business and public toilet in Malta & Gozo and if you’re a business owner and haven’t invested already, this is your sign to get in touch with FBP and get your business some high-quality equipment.

You’ll find these products and more at Firm B. Pullicino, a family run business established in 1985 which imports and distributes a comprehensive range of DIY materials, building apparatus and home improvement products at incredible prices.

But don’t take our word for it, check them out for yourself!

A 40-year-old man from Floriana was remanded in custody Monday morning after was charged for attacking his partner with a broken glass shard during a domestic argument.

A father of two, the man appeared before a magistrate this morning accused of attacking the woman, inflicting grievous injuries on her as well as subjecting her to sexual advances.

Police had received reports of shouting and sounds of conflict from the accused’s residence. Officers dispatched to investigate found the alleged victim’s mother banging on the door and screaming to be let in.

The police forced open the door, discovering the accused unclothed and attacking the victim with a piece of glass. The injuries were inflicted on the woman by glass from a broken mirror.

Asked by the accused’s defence lawyer, the inspector revealed that the woman had never filed a police report about the accused. However, the inspector said that the footage from the arresting officers’ body cam was self-explanatory.

Bail for the accused was requested against objections from the inspector in view of the nature of the charges. The victim had not wanted the police to prosecute the man as he was ‘going through a rough patch’ and had two children.

The lawyer claimed the case had been completely invented by the prosecution, accusing the inspector of dismissing expert advice and extrapolating the charges. The court denied the request, saying that this could mean that the accused might tamper with evidence were he to be released.

New Valletta art installation sees paper jellyfish decorate street

New Valletta art installation sees paper jellyfish decorate street

‘When the sea stings’ wrote Valletta Cultural Agency chairman Jason Micallef as he revealed the latest street art installation in the capital city.

Decorating South Street (Triq Nofsinhar), the installation forms part of a cultural programme by the cultural agency which sees a new installation every three months.

‘It’s rare, or never, that we see jellyfish looking so wonderful that you have to take a photo of them’ said Micallef. The caption was even supported by commenters on the post, who said that it’s much better to see jellyfish like so instead of when going to the beach for a swim.

This comes as Maltese waters get invaded by a substantial amount of jellyfish, stinging many people and prompting a purple warning flag to be erected at Golden Bay.

These Valletta jellyfish however are colourful and luminescent, transforming the pathway for visitors of Malta’s capital city. ‘Make sure to visit them when you’re in Valletta!’ urged the chairman.
