The second volume of Memories from San Vincenzo de Paul has been officially launched, offering a unique glimpse into Maltese life through the stories and experiences of elderly residents. Compiled by Professor Raymond Mangion, the book captures the essence of Malta’s cultural identity, traditions, and history.

This latest volume highlights traditions that have faded away, words and expressions no longer in use, personal accounts from the Second World War, and long-forgotten crafts. The publication serves as a vital tool for preserving the memories that define Malta’s heritage, ensuring they are passed down to future generations.

The launch event was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, and Dr Lydia Abela, who shared that some of her relatives contributed to the book.

Agius Galea emphasised the importance of such projects, saying: “This book honours the invaluable contributions of the elderly and ensures their stories continue to shape our identity and culture. It is a testament to the enduring strength of Maltese values and traditions.”
