Jul 10 2024 Share

Andrew Azzopardi, the Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing and former Head of the Department of Youth and Community Studies, has made a Facebook post informing the public about the unbearable heat the inmates have been facing.

In the post, he explains that there have been inmates who have fainted due to the heat whilst they are not allowed to remove their uniforms which are drenching with sweat. Fights between inmates have also broken out over who gets cooling.

These conditions are described as a breach of human rights, and heatwaves have not yet been experienced.
