31-year-old Japanese Man Arrested In Connection With Cat Killing Case

After several days of surveillance related to investigations into cats found killed in various localities over recent weeks, the police arrested the main suspect, a 31-year-old Japanese man, during last night.
At around three in the morning, the police spotted the individual walking along Manuel Dimech Street in Sliema. The man was immediately stopped, and during a search, officers found a pair of latex gloves similar to those allegedly used in the cat killings as well as some packets of cat food.
The investigations were focused around the Sliema area, as the police had indications that the person allegedly involved was in that vicinity.
After his arrest, a search was carried out at his residence, where all the clothing the suspect was seen wearing in footage from several security cameras was seized.
The man is being held in the police lock-up in Floriana, where investigations will continue.
