Aug 1 2022 Share

Approximately 250,000 litres of water and 2,500 litres of foam were used by firefighters in order to take out the massive Kordin fire that broke out on Saturday. Around 25 emergency responders spent hours fighting the flames.

Civil Protection Malta revealed that a large field located at Kordin Industrial Estate, which contained many vehicles such as cars, trucks, trailers, boats and tyres, caught fire. A drone was also used in the action to further help extinguish the fire

Police spokesperson Brandon Pisani thanked the Emergency medical team, the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, the CPD Volunteers, St. John Rescue Corps and the Emergency fire and rescue unit.

The fire reportedly started at around 1:20pm on Sunday and luckily registered. This isn’t the first random fire to break out in Malta this summer. However PBS have revealed that the fire did not start at Kordin facilities, but rather at a nearby paper company, Karta Converters.

It was previously owned by Russian media tycoon Boris Berezovsky, who wanted to rival Roman Abramovich’s boat Pelorus, another boat which has been previously docked in Malta. The Russian did however sell it to the Emirati car dealer before the boat was even completed.

Radiant features a helipad, gymnasium, cinema and spa and includes one of the highest security specifications to ever be created. The helipad seems to be used quite a lot as the yacht was also seen in Birgu with a helicopter on its helipad.

The yacht is a 110m motor yacht which has a top speed of 21.0 kn and cruising speed of 16.o kn. Radiant can accommodate up to 20 guests in 10 staterooms. It was was designed by experienced yacht designer Tim Heywood and was built in Germany by Lurssen in 2009.

Radiant is registered in the Cayman Islands, the 2nd most popular flag state for superyachts with a total of 1256 yachts registered.

Football has finally come home as after a 56 year wait an English national football team has won an international trophy. The honours were given to the England women’s team who managed to defeat Germany in extra time in front of a sold out Wembley stadium to win the 2022 Women’s Euros.

The first half of the game was a cagey affair with both teams making sure that no mistakes happen and that there team go into half time with no goals conceded. This mentality did limit the amount of goal scoring chances seen in the game.

Like last year’s men’s final, England took the lead in the 62nd minute as Manchester United striker Ella Toone calmly chipped the German keeper. However there lead didn’t last the full 90 minutes as in the 79th minute Bayern Munich midfielder Lina Magull managed to finish off a good Germany play with the ball at the back of the net.

Extra time was again needed for another Euros final involving England and Wembley Stadium. Unlike last time, England managed to beat there nerves and avoid a penalty shootout as in the 110th minute Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly scored, to snatch the Euros out of Germany’s hands.

Massive celebrations broke out in the country and there already have been calls by Labour leader Keir Stamer to grant the public an extra bank holiday to celebrate the incredible achievement.
