Taking to social media, Prime Minister Robert Abela revealed that on the eve of a ‘historical day wherein Malta is set to recognise the Palestinian state’, 250 tonnes of flour arrived in Gaza under the leadership of the World Central Kitchen.

This will serve as humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people, with Abela saying that this adds to the aid Malta is offering to injured Palestinian children.

‘We are committed to help both through declarations towards a solution but also through concrete actions that address the suffering’, said Abela.

This comes as the UK, Australia and Canada recognised the state of Palestine. This makes Britain and Canada the first G7 countries to take this step.

France is expected to follow at the annual UN General Assembly in New York on Monday (22nd September).
