22% Of Maltese Aged Over 15 Were Smokers In 2023

According to new data released by Eurostat, 24% of the EU population aged 15 and over smoked in 2023.
Among them, men formed 28% of the share whereas 21% of women were smokers.
Looking at Malta, 22% of the population over 15 smoked, with 26% being men and 18% being women.
The lowest smoking rates were registered in Sweden, with just 9% of men and 8% of women.
The highest smoking rate for men was registered in Bulgaria at 49% whereas for women it was registered in Greece at 32%.
