As the Eurovision Song Contest prepares for its thrilling 2025 edition, Malta’s 2023 winners, The Busker, are passing the torch to this year’s contestant, Miriana Conte, who is all set to represent Malta with her powerful song, ‘Serving’.

The Busker, represented Malta with their catchy tune ‘Dance (Our Own Party)’ in the ESC of 2023 and finished in 12th place. To mark the handover, The Busker posted a heartwarming video on their social media, where all the group members passed the mic to Miriana Conte, symbolising the transfer of the Eurovision mantle.

Miriana will perform in the first semi-final on the 7th of May, in her designated slot as the 13th act of the night. Her song “Serving” is already causing a stir in the music world with its blend of modern pop and bold messages. The selection process was marked by controversy surrounding the Maltese national song, “Kant,” which stirred debate due to its lyrics and performance. This sparked a lot of online discussions, but it has only added fuel to the fire, making the journey to Eurovision even more exciting for Miriana.

Malta has had a strong presence in Eurovision since first competing in 1971. Over the years, the island has sent numerous talented artists, including iconic performances from Ira Losco, Chiara and more recently, The Busker. With a legacy of incredible talent, Miriana’s chance to represent Malta in 2025 is a momentous occasion.

As we await the results of the semi-finals and final, all eyes will be on Miriana as she prepares to deliver a performance that is bound to leave a lasting impression. The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest promises to be an unforgettable event and Malta has a new star ready to take the ESC by storm.

The Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation, Clifton Grima, visited St. Thomas More College, Nazzareno Farrugia Primary School B in Fgura, where he distributed two-in-one devices to Year 4 and 5 students. These digital devices are currently being distributed across all government, church, and independent primary schools.
“We are distributing over 9,000 two-in-one devices as part of our planning and the National Education Strategy.

Previously, students were given tablets, but we saw the need to evolve and provide these two-in-one devices, which offer the benefits of both a tablet and a laptop. This prepares students for when they receive a laptop in Year 7,” explained Minister Grima.

So far, nearly 2,000 devices have been distributed, with the remaining units set to be delivered by next month.
In the coming days, the Digital Education Strategy will be launched as part of the National Education Strategy 2024-2030. This initiative focuses on 21st-century digital skills, including digital preparedness, well-being, and citizenship.

The ministry continues to emphasise the importance of digital transformation, ensuring students gain essential digital skills. Present at the event were ministry officials, school leaders, and representatives from the company supplying the devices.

Lewis Hamilton took his first victory for Ferrari in the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix, finishing 6.889 seconds ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took third, with Hamilton controlling the race after holding off Verstappen’s early challenge.

This was a major turnaround for Hamilton after a disappointing debut in Australia, where he finished 10th.

Piastri, who secured second, was pleased with his first-ever podium finish, while Verstappen struggled with tire management. McLaren’s Lando Norris salvaged a point by finishing eighth after a difficult race.

Hamilton’s victory sets him up for Sunday’s main race, where he will start fifth.
