Work on the Imsida Creek project began in November 2024, and after just over four months, 20% of the project has been completed. The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works, Chris Bonett, announced this milestone, highlighting the rapid progress across multiple sites, with several phases already at advanced stages.
Minister Bonett emphasised the extensive consultation and planning carried out before the project, which is now delivering positive results. Special traffic arrangements and new routes have been introduced to minimise disruption while ensuring that Imsida benefits from the improved infrastructure.
He thanked the workers from Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta for their efforts in keeping the area safely accessible for both motorists and those using alternative transport. Expressing his satisfaction with the progress, he stated, “Today’s visit reaffirms our commitment to delivering this project efficiently for the common good.”
Meanwhile, Steve Ellul, CEO of Infrastructure Malta, announced that work on the final two pillars for the flyover connecting Imsida to Tal-Qroqq will begin shortly. Additionally, construction continues on a new bridge linking the Imsida waterfront to Pietà.
Infrastructure Malta is regularly updating the public through the media and social platforms while maintaining close contact with the local council.
