Passengers departing from Malta International Airport can now carry liquids in containers of up to two litres in their hand luggage.

This change comes as a result of the European Commission’s re-authorisation for the full use of advanced EDS C3 security scanners at the airport.

Travellers no longer need to remove liquids or electronic devices at the central security checkpoint, streamlining the screening process and enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Despite this update, the 100ml liquid rule remains in place at several EU airports. Passengers are therefore advised to check the specific security requirements of their destination, especially for their return journey, to avoid any disruption.

This development forms part of Malta International Airport’s broader efforts to modernise its facilities and services.

It follows the recent completion of the first phase of its terminal expansion project, aimed at improving capacity and efficiency as the airport continues to welcome growing passenger numbers.
