A total of 1,676 personnel ensured the smooth running and security of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta, the largest conference of its kind ever hosted in the country.
This workforce comprised 1,058 police officers, 474 soldiers from the Armed Forces of Malta, 72 LESA officers, 65 Civil Protection Department officers, and 7 Detention Services workers.
Their combined efforts safeguarded Maltese citizens and high-level delegations from 57 OSCE member states.
Preparations began well before the council convened, intensifying with the arrival of international delegates.
Personnel were stationed at key locations, including Malta International Airport, the MFCC in Ta’ Qali where the meetings took place, and the delegates’ accommodations. Officers also ensured security on roads, in control rooms, and along Malta’s coastline.
The professionalism and collaboration displayed by these teams received widespread praise from visitors.
Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Employment Byron Camilleri commended the dedication of Malta’s uniformed officials, highlighting their critical role in ensuring a safe and successful conference.
He pledged continued investment in their resources and capabilities. Organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the conference’s success was a testament to the meticulous work and professionalism of Malta’s security personnel.
