12th Edition Of Festa Fjuri In Iklin

For the twelfth consecutive year, the Iklin Local Council will be hosting another edition of Festa Fjuri in the locality.
True to its name, Iklin is closely associated with flowers and plants, and the Local Council has continued to celebrate this connection through this annual event.
This year’s Festa Fjuri will be held on Saturday, 17th May, between 9:00am and 2:00pm along Triq Ġużè Ellul Mercer and Pjazza Ninu Cremona, where highlights will include a floral carpet crafted from vibrant plants and decorative pots.
The announcement was made by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli.
Present at the event were also the Director General of the Local Government Division, Emile Vassallo, the Mayor of Iklin, Dorian Sciberras, other members of the local council, and the Head of Ħal Lija Primary School.

It was explained that the day will feature a variety of activities with the participation of several Iklin-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, government entities, and Ħal Lija Primary School.
Among the attractions will be a traditional drink made from the klin plant and various flower-inspired culinary offerings.
Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli noted that the event is supported by funding from the Local Government Division’s annual cultural activities scheme. She emphasised the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting events that enhance the individual identity of each locality.
“I’m pleased to see so many Local Councils embracing innovation in their events. In this case, the Iklin Local Council has consistently drawn inspiration from the locality’s name to create an annual celebration that reflects its unique character,” she said.
Mayor Dorian Sciberras expressed his thanks to the Parliamentary Secretariat and the Local Government Division for their support and financial backing. He remarked that year after year, the event is eagerly anticipated by local residents as a moment that unites the community.
