Zurrieq Band Show Stuns Maltese Festa Enthusiasts

The Zurrieq band show organised by the Banda Queen Victoria A.D. 1865 and Mount Carmel Fireworks Factory for the feast of Our lady of Mount Carmel has stunned not only the audience but hundreds of Maltese festa enthusiasts on social media.

The video of the show posted by Għaqda Karmelitana Banda Queen Victoria, Żurrieq, has garnered a whopping 15 thousand views and almost 400 positive reacts.

The show featured a beautiful back and forth between the symphony of the band and the elegancy of the beautiful fireworks.

The feast was held on the 16th of July and is one of two feasts that are held in Zurrieq every year.

Ursula von der Leyen Re-Elected As European Commission President

The EU Parliament has decided to democratically hand Ursula von der Leyen a second term as the president of the European Commission, which sort of acts as the executive body of the European Union.

Von der Leyen won the election with the overall support of 401 MEPS, 41 more votes than the Belgian needed.

There were 284 MEPS who decided to vote against her having a second term whilst another 21 decided to abstain from voting by either leavig their ballot paper blank or by voiding it.

In her re-election speech, Ursula von der Leyen promised to strengthen Europe’s military presence in order to better defend itself amongst other pledges.

Enemalta Reinforcing Electricity Distribution Network

Enemalta plc are currently upgrading their electricity distribution network with all brand new 11 kilovolt underground cables.

Enemalta plc have also confirmed to Malta Daily that these crucial works are happening now, in order to not disrupt the school season in winter and that these works are imperative upgrading works that need to be done for the Electricity/ Water and Sewage systems

Due to these intense works in those localities, the roads Triq il-Marsa (Triq Emmanuel Luigi Galizia) and part of Triq l-Imdina have all been closed.

Enemalta have recommended the public to use other routes instead due to the closed roads. From Ħal Luqa to Siġġiewi they recommend to use Triq ta’ Ħal Farruġ and Triq Imqabba and from Rabat to the Airport they recommend using the Central Link.

2024 Emmy Nominations Revealed

The nominees of the 76th edition of the Emmy Awards were announced last Wednesday, and it was clear to everyone that the big winners were, ‘The Bear’ and ‘Shogun’ both FX productions.

‘The Bear’ racked up a record-breaking 23 nominations, breaking the record set by ’30 Rock’ back in 2009 for most Emmy nominations by a comedy series. This did come with some controversy with many believing that ‘The Bear’ should not be classified as a comedy but as a drama due to its intense nature.

‘Shogun’ managed to obtain an immense 25 nominations in the drama category, falling short of the 32 nominations record set by ‘Game of Thrones’ back in 2016.

Well known shows “The Crown,“ The Morning Show” and “Only Murders in the Building” also got multiple nominations, as did comedy “Abbott Elementary.”

World renowned actors such as Donald Glover, Idris Elba, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Aniston, Imelda Staunton and Reese Witherspoon were all nominated for Outstanding lead actor and actresses.
