Żejtun’s Carlo Diacono Middle and Secondary School has achieved a national milestone by creating the largest mechanised gingerbread village in the Maltese Islands. Presented by The Malta Records during the school’s open day, the impressive festive display measures 4 metres in length, 2.63 metres in width, and incorporates a remarkable 195 kilograms of dough.
This extraordinary project is the result of months of dedication by the school’s staff and volunteers, who began preparations during their summer holidays. Their commitment highlights the often-unseen efforts of educators who go above and beyond to foster creativity and community spirit.
Held on the Saturday before Christmas, the open day provided an opportunity for the public to admire the intricate village, complete with moving components. The event also shone a spotlight on the vocational dedication of Maltese teachers, whose contributions often extend far beyond the classroom.
The Malta Records commended the school for their innovative achievement and expressed pride in recognising this creative endeavour as a national record. Congratulations were extended to all involved for their hard work and dedication.
Żejtun Middle and Secondary School has not only set a record but also set an inspiring example of teamwork and festive spirit.
