The Energy and Water Agency (EWA) and the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS) have joined forces to distribute ‘Water – Be the Change’ gift packs containing water-saving gadgets, aiming to promote sustainable living practices across Malta and Gozo.

These ‘Water – Be the Change’ devices are being distributed at various locations to ensure accessibility, particularly targeting vulnerable individuals in our communities. Recipients have been informed via collection letters and can collect their packages accordingly.

The gadgets included in the ‘Water – Be the Change’ packs serve as practical tools to promote water conservation and financial savings for families. Recipients receive detailed installation instructions during distribution to optimize the use of these devices. Between April and May, over 11,000 water gift packs and 12,000 water kits will be distributed at 28 different locations.

Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, Miriam Dalli, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in advancing sustainability. “Through this partnership, we’re distributing practical Water-Be the Change kits, taking tangible steps towards a more sustainable future,” she stated.

Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, highlighted Malta’s achievement of the lowest energy prices in the EU, translating into financial relief for citizens. He emphasized that this initiative is part of broader support measures, including increased cost-of-living allowances (COLA), minimum wage raises, and enhanced pensions, without added taxes.

Michael Schembri, Chief Policy Officer for Water at EWA, stressed the importance of collaborative efforts benefiting both the public and the environment.

The ‘Water – Be the Change’ campaign underscores the importance of water conservation without compromising quality of life, fostering wise resource use for future generations. This initiative exemplifies a commitment to sustainable living and societal well-being, contributing to a more resilient and environmentally aware society.
