YouTube to finally let users watch videos whilst using other apps on phone

YouTube to finally let users watch videos whilst using other apps on phone
Jul 18 2022 Share

The day has finally arrived as YouTube has just installed a new function which will allow users to do other things on their phone whilst still watching videos.

This was one of the major drawbacks of YouTube in general as once you exit the app to text or use any other application, whatever you’re currently watching automatically shuts off.

Those days are over however as the new picture-in-picture mode will allow users to watch videos in a floating window whilst performing other activities on the iPhone or iPad.

After user feedback was submitted, the company noted that this was one of the most requested features for YouTube. The feature will as of yet be available for premium members worldwide and non-premium users in the US.

However, the new function won’t be available for music unless one has a premium subscription. Taking to Twitter, YouTube itself acknowledged that this has been ‘a long time coming’.

For those wondering how it will work, all one needs to do is head to settings, then General in the YouTube app and turn on picture-in-picture. From then on, it’s multi-tasking all the way.

Single women without kids are the happiest people in the world, study suggests

Single women without kids are the happiest people in the world, study suggests

A scientist in London may have found the key to happiness for women… but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Behavioural sciences professor Paul Dolan, who is based in London School of Economics and is a self-proclaimed ‘happiness expert’ has revealed that after much research, it was found that the happiest group of people in the world are single women who do not have children.

His research investigated humankind’s happiness and the consequences related to the state of mind, going on to highlight that despite this revelation, many woman said they would be happier when their partners are present.

Dolan also argued that, despite the apparent benefits of a single, childless lifestyle – society’s current narrative of children and marriage as ‘signs of success’ meant that the stigma could lead to some individuals being unhappy.

What do you make of this?

On Saturday evening, President George Vella unveiled a Sliema monument paying tribute to the lives of elderly individuals who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic and the resilient ones who withstood such a difficult period.

In a speech addressed below the monument, Vella remarked that the pandemic was harsher on the elderly as they had to experience months of separation and lack of physical contact. He also called for politics which are more active and inclusive towards the local elderly community.

The President thanked the Maltese Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics for the initiative and their work amongst the elderly.
