Young entrepreneur creates fundraiser for Istrina to help battle against cancer

Cheyenne Muscat, the founder of all-things digital brand e.lementi wants to give back to the Malta Community Chestfund so it can continue helping people in the way it is helping her.

In a heartfelt video, 25-year-old Cheyenne explained how last year she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Unfortunately, despite going through numerous operations and treatments, the cancer had continued to spread.

As Cheyenne continued to courageously battle the disease, she came up with the company e.lementi to keep her motivated and work on her dreams.

Due to the expenses associated with the treatment, Cheyenne said that she and her family could not have undergone it all without the aid of the Malta Community Chestfund. Now, as Istrina rolls around, Cheyenne wishes to give back to those who helped her face this massive challenge.

Speaking to Malta Daily, Cheyenne said: “e.lementi for Istrina is all about giving back. Since e.lementi was developed and created during my stay in hospital, it motivated me to create such a fundraiser to help out and contribute in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.”

Germany versus Spain ends in dramatic stalemate

2014 World Cup champions Germany and 2010 World Cup holders Spain ended their much anticipated match in a 1-1 dramatic stalemate. The match was very close between the two teams and highlighted the immense quality both countries have.

The match started with Spain dominating the possession of the ball and Germany focusing more on countering Spain with the likes of Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala.

The Germans thought they opened the scoresheet in the 40th minute when towering center back Antonio Rudiger managed to head in a wonderful Joshua Kimmich free kick, however it was later ruled out by VAR due to Rudiger being in an offside position.

The opening goal actually came in the 61st minute when Atletico Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata managed to score past German keeper Manuel Neuer to give Spain the deserving lead.

Germany’s all important equalizer occurred in the 82nd minute through a strong strike by Werder Bremen star striker and Germany super sub Niclas Füllkrug, in only the 29-year old’s third appearance for his country.

The Germans will be happier with the result following their shocking defeat to Japan last week, whilst Spain will be hoping for a better performance next time around similar to their 7-0 thrashing of Costa Rica.

Boats drift ashore as Malta hit with Force 9 winds

As Malta continues to be hit by Force 9 to 10 winds, videos surfacing online show what seem to be boats drifting ashore as various localities get flooded with rain and rising sea waters.

One video shows a boat carried onto land in Marsascala as the area is completely flooded with water. Weather forecast reports issued an orange warning earlier today, advising people to either stay indoors or be as careful as possible if venturing outdoors.

More Black Friday consumers but less spending reveal SMEs

The Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) revealed that this year’s Black Friday was the closest one to pre-pandemic levels in terms of consumers taking to the streets and shops.

However, despite the eagerness to shop being evident, consumers were found to be much more cautious and scrupulous in how much and on what they spend on.

This was attributed to inflation related decisions, as consumers appear to have retained some of the shopping trends observed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means appliances, household electronics as well as brown goods were flying off the shelves at a faster pace than any other items. Affordable brands in the fashion industry also fared well, with the pricier ones getting a hit.

The Chamber noted that different sectors applied different strategies in how they structure offers. Some extended the offers whilst others decided to solely stick to the Black Friday weekend.

On their part, businesses reported a somewhat high level of satisfaction despite inflation worries as people were very much eager to take to the shops following the pandemic’s accompanying restrictions.
