Transport Minister Addresses This Morning’s Traffic

Transport Minister Addresses This Morning's Traffic

Transport Minister Chris Bonett took to social media to address the traffic situation which saw various localities blocked with vehicles.

The Minister explained the two situations separately, seeing as there were traffic jams in both St Julian’s and in Paola.

As for St Julian’s, ‘maintenance works in St. Julian’s had to halt at 5:30 in the morning. I was informed that complications arose during the laying of the concrete, causing one lane to remain closed and creating a bottleneck that resulted in significant traffic.’

The Minister said that the contractor will bear responsibility but that he also understands that work can create complications.

As for Paola, many Muslims in Malta are celebrating Eid fl-Fitr today. Due to this, a large influx of people gathered in the area in celebration.

‘ Transport Malta had a reduced number of Enforcement Officers trying their best to manage the traffic problem, but at one point, we had the blocking of certain lanes near the Mosque. Enforcement officers do not have the authority to physically remove people from the road, so we needed police intervention, and that’s why the situation took a while to return to normal.’

Apologising for any inconvenience caused, the Minister said that he would remain honest and keep communication with public ongoing.

‘Unfortunately, incidents like today happen, although we are doing everything possible to make them less frequent.’

Should Netflix introduce a naughty scene censor feature?

A recent social media post stirred up excitement among thousands of fans by falsely claiming that Netflix had launched a new feature to remove sex scenes from shows like Bridgerton.

The buzz began when Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan mentioned a PG version of the show for her parents, but it escalated when content creator Soren Iverson shared an edited image on X, suggesting an official announcement of this feature.

The image, creatively altered to appear like an official Netflix announcement, depicted Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey) emerging from a lake in Season 2, with text below suggesting a “Skip the foreplay” feature to make family viewing less awkward.

Iverson’s post gained tremendous traction, reaching 27 million views on X, with many users expressing relief at the supposed feature. However, the excitement was short-lived as it was revealed that the feature was entirely fictional.

In a follow-up post, Iverson clarified the nature of his content, acknowledging the viral response and inviting viewers to engage with more of his humorous creations.

The upcoming movie “Joker: Folie à Deux” has launched its first trailer, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in a musical sequel to the original “Joker” film. Phoenix reprises his role as Arthur Fleck, an aspiring comedian who turns into the notorious villain, Joker, while Lady Gaga plays Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum.

Quinzel falls in love with Fleck, eventually becoming his partner in crime, Harley Quinn. The film’s title hints at a shared delusional disorder, marking a significant shift from its predecessor by embracing the musical genre, promising 15 song numbers, mainly covers of classic hits.

The trailer teases one such song, “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” contrasting the original film’s tone.

Returning cast members include Zazie Beetz alongside newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Steve Coogan, and Catherine Keener. Todd Phillips directs again, having once envisioned the Joker as a standalone project. Yet, the sequel’s development was driven by Phoenix’s captivating portrayal of Fleck, which earned him an Oscar.

The first “Joker” film was a monumental success, grossing over $1 billion and securing significant accolades, including two Oscars. “Joker: Folie à Deux” is slated for cinema release on October 4, extending the dark and complex world of its predecessor with a musical twist.
