Xlendi Run Off Floods Following Rain This Past Week

Xlendi Run Off Floods Following Rain This Past Week
Nov 15 2024 Share

Alan Deidun has raised concerns about the environmental impact of recent developments in Xlendi, following the heavy rainfall last week that caused significant run-off in the area. Alan Deidun emphasised the need for more sustainable development practices, particularly in coastal regions, to preserve natural water channels.

He warned that building over valley mouths that open into the sea disrupts the natural flow of water, increasing the risk of flooding and erosion. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of such construction, urging a reconsideration of planning policies to better protect the environment.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, has outlined a set of initiatives to enhance Malta’s fishing industry. During the Pajjiż ta’ Kwalità news conference, she revealed that €8 million has been allocated for 2025 to promote sustainability, support traditional practices, and encourage young people to join the sector.

The measures include financial aid for owners of traditional wooden vessels, such as pike and kayaks, and funds for purchasing eco-friendly machinery. “These Budget 2025 initiatives highlight our dedication to Maltese and Gozitan fishermen,” Bugeja Said remarked, stressing the government’s commitment to supporting and growing the sector.

Bugeja Said also announced plans for consultations to design financial aid schemes tailored for young people entering the industry. Drawing from the Young Farmers initiative, the government aims to provide capital assistance for those lacking resources to establish themselves in fishing.

Dennis Calleja, Director of the Directorate of Aquaculture, added that fishermen will soon receive detailed information about the schemes. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for Malta’s fishing sector.

Fan Claims to Marry Louis Tomlinson After Concert in Jakarta

Nov 15 2024 Share

During his ‘Faith In The Future’ tour earlier this year, Louis Tomlinson unknowingly found himself “married” to a fan. While in Jakarta, a TikToker named ‘@ladycryalot’ attended his concert and claimed to have returned home as his wife. The fan explained in a TikTok video that she had gone to the show single but left with a signed “marriage certificate” from Tomlinson.

The fan revealed that she asked Louis to sign a document, which she claimed was a marriage certificate featuring an image of herself and Tomlinson. Tomlinson, unaware of what he was signing, joked, “What’s this, some kind of declaration of marriage?” before signing it.

The fan later explained that her friend had asked Tomlinson if he’d return to Jakarta, to which he replied, “If my wife wants to.”
Although the fan was enthusiastic about the situation, take into consideration that marriages in Indonesia aren’t officially recognized without a ceremony.

So, while Tomlinson may have unknowingly signed the document, this “marriage” doesn’t have legal standing. Fans of the former One Direction star may still have a chance!
