WSC Malta's 1st Green Bonds Fully Subscribed In Few Hours

The Water Services Corporation announced that the first ever Green Bonds issuance, amounting to €25 million, has been fully subscribed in record time. 

‘his remarkable success is a testament to the strong confidence in our commitment to sustainability and our pioneering role in Malta’s green economy’, the WSC said in a statement.

Prime Minister Robert Abela also commended the record, saying that this is ‘initiative underscores the Maltese government’s commitment to sustainability and positions as a leader in green finance.’

MEP Asks Telecoms Companies To Simplify Navigation For Elderly

Taking to social media, MEP Alex Agius Saliba called on local tele-communications companies, mainly GO, Epic and Melita, to simplify Cable TV navigation for the elderly in Malta.

‘Many elderly persons are speaking to me, expressing their difficulty in using Cable TV. It is too complicated for them to navigate and use the available programmes’.

Agius Saliba recommended a basic interface wherein the simple push of a button on the remote control they would be able to access a number of local television stations. 

‘It is something that does not cost much but will help thousands of elderly persons to make their life much simpler.’

No Less Than 38 Inspections Carried Out On Collapsed Scaffolding Site

Following the resurfacing of a video shared by Newsbook.com.mt, which showed a mother in Birkirkara scolding workers after scaffolding collapsed, endangering them and her family, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) issued a right of reply in regards to the incident. 

Through their right of reply, the BCA reported in a statement that no less than 38 inspections were carried out on the site to maintain full over sight.

‘The developer was issued with two written warnings to stop work and take preventive measures due to water infiltration to third parties. The Authority’s inspectors took the responsibility by giving instructions where needed and continued to follow the case. Every instruction that was given to the developer was followed.’

The BCA also revealed that they are currently blocking the applicant’s bank guarantee due to damage done to third parties. 

After the incident, which took place on October 29th 2022, the ‘enforcement regulations continued to be strengthened through the amendments to the regulations on the management of construction sites which now came under the responsibility of the BCA.’
