Imsida resident Maya Dimitrijevic recently posted a reel titled “Why Am I Leaving Malta,” highlighting the impact of relentless construction and noise pollution in her neighbourhood. In her post, Dimitrijevic expressed deep frustration over the lack of peace in her area, stating, “I simply cannot spend another moment in this hell hole of constant noise and dust.”
The video captures Dimitrijevic visibly distressed by the continuous noise of construction, accompanied by footage of nearby construction sites operating from early morning to evening, Monday through Saturday. Having already endured years of disruptions due to frequent roadworks on Triq ix-Xatt, she describes a moment of quiet as “a luxury in this country.”
Dimitrijevic’s post has sparked a conversation about Malta’s development and its impact on residents’ quality of life. Many locals voiced similar concerns in the comments, echoing sentiments about noise pollution, dust, and the ever-present challenges of living amidst Malta’s ongoing urban development.
