WHO names heavily-mutated South African variant ‘Omicron’; classes it as ‘of concern’

Nov 27 2021 Share

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has addressed its concerns surrounding the newly-found, heavily-mutated COVID-19 variant and has named it B.1.1.529 or ‘Omicron.’

The organisation’s Technical Advisory Group met on Friday to discuss the variant, expressing the preliminary evidence suggest increased risks of reinfection compared to other variants.

A spokesperson for WHO stated in a recent video that while the Delta variant is predominant in Europe, the main priority should be to increase vaccination coverage in all eligible groups as well as an increased focus on booster doses.

‘Omicron’ has been reportedly detected at faster rates compared to surges of other variants and it remains to be seen whether or not vaccine immunity is effective against such a variant. On Friday, Malta banned travel to and from South Africa and a number other other South African countries, with the European Union and United States imposing a number of similar bans.

The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest of ingredients, providing bold Italian flavours in each and every dish. A foodie gem in its own right, A Mano can be found on the gorgeous Kalkara Waterfront and has made a name for itself since it first opened earlier this year. The chill, welcoming Italian aesthetic is only complemented by the drool-inducing smells of baking pizza dough and sensational pasta sauces and trust us when we tell you that you’re going to want one of everything. To top it all off, A Mano’s pizzaiolo’s make their pizza’s in an iconic Neapolitan pizza oven, so you know it’s as authentic as can be.

A Power Rangers Cinematic Universe is coming to Netflix

A Power Rangers Cinematic Universe is coming to Netflix
Nov 26 2021 Share

The next generation of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers is set to come to Netflix, and it’s going to be a cinematic universe connecting multiple show versions of the series.

According to Deadline, the Netflix deal will include both streaming series and movies, with Jonathan Entwistle, the director of ‘The End of the F***ing World’, at the helm.

‘Since we set up ‘Power Rangers’ with Jonathan, we pitched a whole world approach. It’s not just one show; it is shows followed by films […] Netflix is excited, we’re excited, we hope to have some news soon.’

The 2017 movie reboot was slightly under appreciated, and so this reboot will aim to revitalise the Power Rangers into 2021 and beyond.

The series will likely have nothing to do with the movies, but will be a brand new take to the Power Rangers. The first series debuted in 1993, going on to create multiple spin-offs and movies. It’s a fan favourite franchise, it’s getting a resurrection.
