New Local Platform Tracks Air Pollution Live In Malta

‘You may not see it, but it’s there’: Maltese Daniel Vella has launched pollution.mt, a platform which issues hourly air pollution updates for Malta to keep us all updated on what we’re breathing!

The platform allows users to monitor pollutant levels as they are updated and automatically compares them to World Health Organisation standards every hour.

The platform monitors for 6 specific type of pollutants: sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, PM10 and PM2.5. 

It also offers opportunities to learn what one can do about mitigating the negative health effects of such pollutants as it offers air quality data for 6 different locations in Malta as of yet: 

Attard, Msida, Żejtun, St Paul’s Bay, Mobile Station and Għarb. ‘pollution.mt is here to make the invisible problem that is all around us more visible. Get your hourly Malta air pollution updates, and learn more about the air you breathe’.

Public Outcry After Driver Kills Cat Whilst Driving One Way

A video and photos shared on social media have caused public outcry after a driver in Isla drove one way and killed a stray cat. 

The footage shows a car driving up a one way road in Isla as a small kitten darts out into the road, with the driver continuing on. 

The kitten was later photographed dead, prompting a lot of backlash online. The footage and photographs were re-shared by many, including cyclist Fabio Spiteri. 

‘This moron drove one way , speeding up and hit that stray cat. She died ! Bullies on the road’, wrote Fabio. 

In a separate post, Fabio tagged Minister for Animal Rights Anton Refalo and Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said to take action on the act.
