Earth Hour is a global movement that encourages individuals, communities, and businesses to switch off non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and environmental conservation. Organized annually by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the initiative serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect the planet.
A Global Initiative with a Local Impact
Since its inception in 2007, Earth Hour has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, with over 190 countries taking part last year. Participants contributed more than 1.4 million hours of action towards sustainability efforts.
In Malta, Earth Hour 2025 will be marked by a special event at Pjazza San Gorg, Valletta, where attendees can engage in interactive activities, enjoy live performances, and take part in the symbolic switch-off at 8:30 PM. Additionally, landmarks and businesses across the country will dim their lights in solidarity.
