What if Malta flooded? AI creator gives Malta Atlantis treatment

What if Malta flooded? AI creator gives Malta Atlantis treatment

Last week, @malta_ai released images generated through artificial intelligence showing what Malta would look like if the sunny Mediterranean island had actual snowfall and freezing temperatures.

Now, the same creator has gone the opposite route and reimagined Malta having been partially submerged due to rising sea levels.

The images show various localities having been utterly flooded, from the capital city of Valletta to car busy roads.

We’ve got glimpses of similar flooding whenever a large torrent of rain falls on the island, but these images are more than just a reimagining of flooding.

They also send a stark warning in regards to rising sea levels as caused by climate change and global warming. As reported in 2021 by The Shift, parts of the Maltese islands are at risk of disappearing unless urgent action is taken to protect stretches of the coast.

The world is set to see a dangerous increase in global temperatures 20 years earlier than expected. According to EuroNews, the ‘Mediterranean archipelago is predicted to lose 16%of its groundwater through climate change and rising sea levels over the next 80 years.’

Italian town might fine tourists who pose for selfies

Italian town might fine tourists who pose for selfies
Apr 24 2023 Share

If you’re all about the social media lifestyle and love posting selfies in picturesque seaside towns, then the Italian town of Portofino might not be the most ideal place for you.

That’s because the town on the Italian Riviera has introduced no-waiting zones to stop tourists from lingering in popular beauty spots taking pictures.

Those who break the rule might be fined up to €275 for hanging around too long in these specific zones – and they include, unfortunately for selfie-fanatics, the most photogenic scenes in the area.

The move was taken because these areas have become extremely busy, with people gathering at peak times during the holiday season. Known for its colourful houses overlooking the sea, the town has, according to mayor Matteo Viacava, become anarchic chaos.

This is due to the tourists stopping to take snaps, resulting in massive traffic jams and blocked streets. The measure was put into effect over the Easter weekend and will remain in place until October.

The rules will be in place from the morning to 1800hrs everyday as the summer months are expected to bring many visitors. This is a move that mimics that taken by locations in the US, France and the UK.

Local social media creator Chaz Psaila, known on TikTok as @tiktokchaz, shared a video on the platform catching a man on the Gozo Channel watching pornography whilst in his car.

Chaz was parked in his car next to the man’s vehicle as they either entered into the ferry or waited to exit.

As the men waited, Chaz glanced over only to catch a glimpse of an unknown individual scrolling through a porn site whilst in his vehicle.

Chaz zoomed his camera towards the screen to show a catalogue of pornography videos as the man seemed to take his pick.

Switching the camera back towards him, Chaz simply shook his head in disbelief.
