Last week, @malta_ai released images generated through artificial intelligence showing what Malta would look like if the sunny Mediterranean island had actual snowfall and freezing temperatures.
Now, the same creator has gone the opposite route and reimagined Malta having been partially submerged due to rising sea levels.
The images show various localities having been utterly flooded, from the capital city of Valletta to car busy roads.

We’ve got glimpses of similar flooding whenever a large torrent of rain falls on the island, but these images are more than just a reimagining of flooding.
They also send a stark warning in regards to rising sea levels as caused by climate change and global warming. As reported in 2021 by The Shift, parts of the Maltese islands are at risk of disappearing unless urgent action is taken to protect stretches of the coast.
The world is set to see a dangerous increase in global temperatures 20 years earlier than expected. According to EuroNews, the ‘Mediterranean archipelago is predicted to lose 16%of its groundwater through climate change and rising sea levels over the next 80 years.’
