We’re still in Christmas spirit as a war goes on says Cacopardo

Speaking during his initial speech during the University of Malta debate, Carmel Cacopardo, leader of the ADPD party, stated that Malta still feels as if it’s in the Christmas spirit despite a war happening in Ukraine.

Cacopardo said that the proposals made by the two major parties need to be taken with a pinch of salt. He compared the grandiose pledges to Christmas presents which must be carefully analysed before heading to the polls to vote.

Cacopardo also warned the main party leaders of being more careful about what they propose given the international situation. He used the energy and gas supplies example by pointing out that if the invasion spreads further than Ukraine’s borders, the gas provisions will not remain guaranteed.

ABBA leader accuses Abela and Grech of lies over abortion issue

When asked about the issue of abortion, ABBA leader Ivan Grech Mintoff accused Robert Abela and Bernard Grech accused of lying and supporting pro-choice candidates and politicians.

Ivan Grech Mintoff first started off by stating that his party ABBA is against abortion. However, the politician said that the main political parties are saying they are against abortion but voting to push it towards decriminalisation.

Mintoff mentioned Cyrus Engerer and Roberta Metsola, who, according to the ABBA leader, the parties are voting in favour of and supporting despite moving to decriminalise abortion. Mintoff said that the two leaders were lying by saying that they are not in favour of abortion but ‘secretly’ working to decriminalise it.

On their part, both Abela and Grech revealed that abortion was not in their respective manifestos but they are understanding of the plights that women go through when undergoing the procedure and said that one should not demonise women who wish to undergo the procedure.

No space for race track in Malta says ADPD leader

Addressing the University of Malta debate, ADPD leader Carmel Cacopardo said that there is no space for a race track in Malta.

Replying to a question about environmental impact, the third party leader said that there is no place for a race track on the island due to the environmental impact.

Cacopardo also spoke about how people do not have space to take out their trash due to bars and restaurants taking out their tables and chairs and placing them onto pavements.

Cacopardo said this is damaging the environment in ways that people are not realising, pledging more systematised ways to approach the issues.
