A recent TikTok uploaded by local hairdresser and makeup artist, Marlene Vassallo, displaying a wholesome moment between her and her father is currently going viral.

Marlene often posts videos with her dad as she describes herself as a “daddy’s girl”, and this video shows Marlene’s father, who suffers from dementia, getting his hair cut by her.

Throughout the video one can see the father’s cheery attitude as he continuously passes jokes and funny remarks and he even reminisces about his late mother.

The moment he sees his new haircut he expresses his love for his daughter in a heart-warming Maltese-manner. What a duo!

Speaking in parliament, PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia recalled how his father had just finished work and had spoken to some of the victims before the Um El Faroud tanked exploded, killing 9 workers.

The tragedy occurred on February 3rd, 1995, marking the 30th anniversary this coming month.

The tanker was docked at N.o 3 dock of Malta dry docks, but exploded on the night of the 3rd, killing 9 ship workers.

Naming the victims of the tragedy, PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia used this tragedy to highlight the importance of safety on the workplace. That no parent or spouse or child should lose their loved one due to such incidents.

Starting Monday, January 27th, the beloved animated series Peppa Pig bil-Malti will take a groundbreaking step by incorporating English subtitles in its morning broadcasts and sign language interpretation in its afternoon episodes.

This makes it the first TV programme in Malta to feature the country’s three official languages: Maltese, English, and Maltese Sign Language.

Media Exclusive is proud to champion inclusivity by ensuring that Peppa Pig bil-Malti is accessible to children of all abilities.

This initiative seeks to broaden the reach of Peppa Pig’s adventures, fostering diversity and creating equal opportunities for learning and connection.

Morning episodes will feature English subtitles, helping non-Maltese-speaking viewers enjoy the series while it remains rooted in the Maltese language. Afternoon broadcasts will introduce sign language interpretation, making the show accessible to children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Watch Peppa Pig bil-Malti Monday to Friday at 6:25 AM and 3:50 PM, with repeats on Saturday at 7:00 AM on TVM and TVMi.

More People Using Public Transport In Malta

According to information tabled in parliament, there were over 174,000 adults and 40,000 with students who owned a Tallinja card by the end of last year.

The information was tabled by Minister for Transport Chris Bonett (as requested by Paula Mifsud Bonnici), and revealed that the amount of people with Tallinja cards steadily increased over the past 5 years.

There were 174,419 people with the Adult Tallinja card, compared to 2023’s 153,960.

There were 46,523 people with the Student Tallinja card, compared to 2023’s 43,383.

In terms of Child Tallinja card, there were 6,949 people with the card, compared to 4,035 in 2023 and 6,597 with the Gozo Tallinja Card in 2024 compared to 5,605 in 2023.
