In his appearance on ‘The Interview with Fabian Demicoli’, Micallef stated that one of the main problems with the Public Broadcasting Service was treated as if it was a private broadcaster, as opposed to a national broadcaster which reflects a society and its culture.

He went on to highlight that a national broadcaster should have its financial books in order as well as programmes of high quality, not the teleshopping and other programmes of this sort. The VCA Chairman also called for a reform in the media and broadcasting sector, shining a light on the fact that certain problems exist as a result of society’s development and if local broadcasters do not adapt, they will die.

“For me it is not acceptable, whoever the Prime Minister may be, to have a salary of €73,000… it’s hilarious.” These were the words of Valletta Cultural Agency chairman Jason Micallef on Malta Daily’s show The Interview with Fabian Demicoli.

Micallef highlighted that a Prime Minister carries an enormous responsibility from Monday to Sunday throughout the whole year. He went on to state that the same could be said for Ministers and other representatives, going as far as saying that their current salaries are a ‘joke’.

During Malta Daily’s latest episode of ‘The Interview with Fabian Demicoli’, which welcomed VCA Chairman Jason Micallef, it was revealed that he was amongst the first people that stated that Konrad Mizzi & Keith Schembri should leave.

Micallef also stated that he had called for the two politicians’ exit internally, going on to highlight that after the 2017 election, even if they weren’t found guilty, they had to leave on their own accord. “If you really have the party and Malta close to your heart, you had to leave, not burden Prime Minister Muscat with such a problem.”

Jason Micallef reveals the reason why he cannot contest any election

During his recent appearance on Malta Daily’s ‘The Interview with Fabian Demicoli’, Jason Micallef stated that, despite calls for his participation, he will most certainly not contest any election any time soon.

The VCA Chairman revealed that the reasoning behind this is that he is his own person and cannot wear ‘a mask’ and visit people’s homes promising things that he does not believe in or aren’t his. Providing an example, Micallef stated that he is not in favour hunting and trapping and cannot contest and promise such things if he does not agree with them.

Do you agree?
