On Tuesday, Buenos Aires erupted into cheers, screams and celebrations as Argentina claimed an impressive 3-0 win over Croatia at the Qatar World Cup semi-final.

Waves of people Argentinian supporters congregated at the capital’s Obelisk monument, arriving at dusk to offer their support to national hero Lionel Messi and the rest of the national team. “We feel this World Cup like never before. Because of the death of Diego [Maradona] and because it is Messi’s last,” a 23-year-old passer-by told news agency AFP.

Millions of fans around the world rejoiced as La Albiceleste clenched a decisive victory with two goals from Julián Álvarez and a penalty from Messi.

Following the match, many took to social media to celebrate the football talent that is Lionel Messi, claiming that the argument of ‘greatest football player of all time’ was never a discussion after a brilliant showing at Al Thumama Stadium.

This evening, reigning champions France are set to go head-to-head with dark horse Morocco, who have proven to be a worthy opponent in their bid to become the first-ever African nation to claim the World Cup.

Young adults living with their parents are biggest driver of luxury goods boom

Financial services firm Morgan Stanley have stated that young adults who still with their parents are amongst the biggest contributors to the boom in sales of luxury goods.

Bank analysts stated that increased rental costs and marriage delays have freed up money that would otherwise go towards rent, food and discretionary spending. Consequently, the ‘freed up’ finances have contributed to a boom in the purchasing of handbags, watches, jewellery and other luxury goods.

Luxury goods refers to items which are not necessary to live but are highly-desirable within various cultures, with brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton remaining of the forefront of such a term. Earlier today, it was reported that Bernard Arnault overtook Elon Musk as the world’s richest person.

Arnault is the Chief Executive Officer of luxury goods company LVMH Moët Hennessy, a group of companies which made €64.2 billion in revenues in 2021 with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Tiffany & Co., Moët and many more.

In August, Malta ranked third-highest in the list of Europeans most likely to live with their parents over the age of 30, with the average standing at 30.2 years of age.

Malta donates over €1.7 million in emergency aid to Ukraine

Since last March, Malta has provided over €1.7 million in emergency assistance to Ukraine, amid the ongoing war in the country.

In an international conference addressing the Ukrainian people’s resilience in Paris, Minister for Foreign Affairs, EU Affairs & Trade Ian Borg stated that Malta will continue providing help to Ukraine.

“In light of the limited resources our country has, as well as the neutrality which is an integral part of our country’s constitution, Malta actively answered to this threat, particularly with regards to medical equipment and medicine”, Borg stated.

Borg went on to condemn the Russian Federation’s systemic destruction of Ukrainian infrastructure, stating that such actions are in serious breach of international humanitarian laws.

During the conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the European Union for its $19 billion financial aid package. “Every day we gain new strength for Ukraine to get through this winter, and I thank everyone who works for this and who helps our country, ” he stated.

This Avatar-inspired Mercedes-Benz is one of the most futuristic cars we’ve ever seen

As cinema-goers around the world await the arrival of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, passers-by and commuters in El Segundo, California had to the opportunity to see a futuristic concept car inspired by the film.

The Mercedez-Benz Vision AVTR was first unveiled in 2020 and was reportedly inspired by the original Avatar movie and looks as futuristic as they come. With light-accented tires, side-impact door beams and gill-like flaps on the car’s exterior, the vehicle really does look like something from Pandora.

The vehicle truly is a reflection of Avatar: The Way Of Water’s grandeur, with the film having to be the fourth or fifth biggest box office hit of all time to just break even.

In a recent interview, James Cameron himself failed to shed light on the film’s financial standing, but went as far as saying that it was “very f****** expensive” – coming from a director who helmed projects like Titanic, and Terminator, that’s saying something.
